Forensic OSINT Backend Solutions

Forensic OSINT provides flexible backend solutions for securely managing and storing capture data. Whether you require Cloud or On-Premise deployment, both options offer encryption, secure storage, and easy data retrieval to support your investigative needs.

Key Benefits

The On-Premise backend offers several benefits, particularly for organizations with strict security requirements or for users who want full control over their data:

  • Backup All Captures to SQL Database: All captures are stored securely in an SQL database, ensuring that your data is backed up and can be easily accessed when needed.
  • Generate PDF Reports: You can generate PDF reports that are digitally signed and timestamped, providing verifiable records of your captures.
  • Download Full-Disclosure Packages: Easily download full-disclosure packages (ZIP archives) containing all information captured in a single file.
  • Quick Download of Captures: Download all captures related to a case quickly, either as PDF reports or full-disclosure packages.
  • Resync Captures to Other Browsers: Delete local copies of captures and resync them as needed on other browsers that have the Forensic OSINT Chrome Extension installed.

⚠️ NOTICE:

To protect your captures and ensure they are always accessible, we strongly recommend setting up a backend. By default, captures are stored locally in your browser, but they can be lost if your computer runs low on space, if your browser data is cleared, or if you remove the extension.

If you have a paid Forensic OSINT subscription, you can set up a Cloud or On-Premise backend to securely store, search, and manage your captures.

Free users: The backend is not available on the free plan. Upgrade your account to enable backend storage and advanced case management.

Shared Cloud API Features:

  • Generate digitally signed & timestamped PDF reports.
  • Create full disclosure packages (ZIP) of all evidence.
  • Download multiple captures at once for efficiency.

Cloud Data Retention

  • Users have full control over stored captures.
  • Captures can be manually deleted anytime.
  • If a subscription is canceled, data is retained for 30 days before permanent deletion.

Cost: Free for all paid Forensic OSINT users.

2. Private Cloud API (For Organizations)

  • Designed for: Organizations requiring dedicated, isolated storage.
  • Each client receives a separate database, storage, and dedicated API URL.
  • Clients can opt to host within their own Azure account for full control.
  • Pricing: One-time setup fee + annual per-user fee.

On-Premise Backend

Designed for: Organizations needing complete control over data. The On-Premise backend ensures zero data transmission to Forensic OSINT servers while allowing for local or centralized storage.

Key Security Features

  • End-to-End Encryption: Each capture is encrypted individually.
  • Access Control: Admins can manage user access, with options for private cases.
  • Local Data Management: Store and manage data on your own infrastructure.

Installation Assistance Available

Professional setup assistance is available for a one-time setup fee.

  • Included: Initial installation and configuration.
  • Optional: Ongoing support available through additional service agreements.

Deployment Methods

1. Docker-Based Installation

  • Installation Guide – Step-by-step setup instructions.
  • Ideal for solo users.
  • Requires the host computer to remain powered on and logged in since Docker Desktop is not designed as a full server service. Docker Desktop is best for individual users as it can be easily installed on the users computer.

2. IIS-Based Deployment (For Enterprise Use)

  • Ideal for: Organizations needing a scalable, centralized backend for secure data management.
  • Secure Storage: Captures are stored in a fully secured, centralized database and dedicated storage drives.

Security Best Practices for IIS

Clients are responsible for security hardening. We recommend following Microsoft IIS Security Best Practices for optimal protection:

  • TLS Encryption: Ensures secure data transmission.
  • Firewall & Access Controls: Configure Windows Server firewall & ACLs.
  • Role-Based Access: Implement least-privilege user permissions.

Security & Compliance Across All Backends

  • Data Encryption: Every capture is encrypted using unique keys.
  • Access Control: Users manage their own captures; admins oversee team data.
  • Zero Data Sharing (On-Prem Only): No data is transmitted to Forensic OSINT servers.

Final Thoughts

Whether you need Cloud convenience or On-Prem control, Forensic OSINT provides secure, scalable, and customizable backend options to match your security and operational needs.
